Camp Alkulana depends on the hard work and dedicated hearts of our volunteers. There are many ways you can be involved at Alkulana:
Facility Work
Volunteer on one of our Spring Work Days to help spiff up our facility and get it ready for summer. We can use help with yard work, cleaning, painting, light carpentry, and other skilled work. Find out more information here. If you want a more flexible time frame, plan a work retreat to bring your group to camp for another day or weekend of volunteering to clean, repair, sew, build…or whatever else needs to be done. We have facilities needs at all skill levels.Click here for information on upcoming work days.
Summer Camp Help
Volunteer during the summer season. We have needs for volunteers to staff the infirmary, cook in the kitchen, and lead crafts. We can also always use grounds-keeping and repair volunteers. Email our camp director for more information.
Bus Days
Volunteer on “bus days” in Richmond when campers are coming or going for camp. We can use help greeting children and families, checking them in, and keeping everything organized! Contact our Camper and Family Liaison for more information.
Collections
Plan a collection drive at your church or civic group. At various times we can use clothing, costumes (including old dresses and suits!), crafts supplies, medical supplies, and gently used books. Contact Beth to find out what our current needs are.
School-Year Programs
Volunteer with our school-year programs (Alkulana RVA and LEADs) by bringing food or leading activities. Or help with our family support programs like Christmas Gifts or Thanksgiving food delivery. Contact our Camper and Family Liaison for more information.
